ABOUT

Hi, I'm Renee — the hands and heart behind Southern Knot.
My journey to Southern Knot wasn't one I ever imagined—but looking back, I can see how every stitch led me here.
I began my nursing career in 1995 and was blessed to spend nearly two decades caring for others in a variety of specialties, including Critical Care, Labor & Delivery, and Hospice Nursing. From welcoming brand-new lives into the world to walking alongside families during life's most tender goodbyes, nursing was more than a profession—it was a calling that shaped who I am.
In 2012, a life-changing car accident brought that chapter to an unexpected close, and I had to hang up my scrubs. During the quiet months of recovery, I rediscovered a lifelong love for sewing, embroidery, and creating beautiful things by hand. What began as a source of healing soon became a new purpose.
From that place, Southern Knot was born.
Nestled in the beautiful Golden Isles of Georgia, Southern Knot is a boutique embroidery studio specializing in timeless heirloom pieces for life's sweetest celebrations. From newborn keepsakes and hospital bundles to hand-smocked garments, birthday collections, personalized gifts, and custom embroidery, every piece is thoughtfully handcrafted with Southern charm and heirloom-quality craftsmanship.
My years as a Labor & Delivery nurse taught me just how quickly those first precious moments become treasured memories. Today, I pour that same care and attention into every stitch, creating keepsakes that celebrate the moments families never want to forget.
I believe the little details become the biggest memories. A baby's coming-home outfit, a first birthday ensemble, a hand-smocked heirloom, or a personalized keepsake can become part of a family's story—loved today and passed down for generations.
When I'm not creating in my studio, I'm a proud mama to three wonderful children, blessed with two amazing children-in-law, and the happiest "Nay Nay" to five precious grandchildren—Luke, Beau, Rhett, Remy Claire, and Eden Dru. They are the heart behind so much of what I create and my daily reminder that childhood is beautifully fleeting.
Southern Knot is more than a business to me—it's a labor of love, a second chance, and a way to continue caring for families during some of life's happiest moments. While I may no longer wear scrubs, I still have the privilege of serving others—one stitch, one keepsake, and one treasured memory at a time.
Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your family's story. It is truly an honor to create pieces that celebrate your greatest blessings and become heirlooms for generations to come.
With gratitude,
XOXO,
Renee
